Got my own dear friend, my buddy Bandit. He’s 10, hopefully I will have him around a few more..a lot more years. Never know when or where, just glad he went in his sleep, and didn’t have to put him down. Last 4 I had had to be. Snorted and bawled the whole time. Hang tough.
Larry: Lost my two faithful companions a couple years ago. They were rescue dogs…a Scottie & Westie that came from the same home. Retired owners did not want to be bothered with the boys during retirement, so I was fortunate enough to have them for 6 years before they crossed over. Best thing I ever did was to rescue those boys. I still miss them, but their photo sits right on my radio desk. I am feeling the urge to look for a couple more small Terriers that need a home…until that time, I have the photo as a constant reminder. Sorry for the heartache you are feeling.
Larry, I know personally how you feel. I too lost my Simba two years ago. He was an awesome cat. I feel your pain. The one’s we loose can’t be replaced, but save another soon. I did and I’m glad I rescued again.
Sorry for your loss, Larry. I echo what has been said above: our pets never leave our side. Jesse will always be with you in your memories, and he’ll be waiting for you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
Feel it too, my friend. I still carry Jammer, our dumb little terrier, in my heart. Remember the good times Larry, and know that you gave Jesse all the love you could. And he was happy to share it right back.
Best advice I received when in your shoes some 14 years ago was to remember the good times and make them all that matter. I still miss my beloved Sheltie, Winston. You will struggle for a time; it is life.
I know and understand you loss. They become like our kids and can never be replaced. I thought I would never get another friend like some I have lost, but you do. They don’t take the place but become a new friend. Still it is so hard to loose someone that really show the true meaning of unconditional love.
I’m very sorry for you’re loss. I have also lost some of my best friends/family. I feel you’re pain. Just know that he is in a wonderful place waiting for you. (Hopefully a long wait) May what ever God you believe in be with you and you’re family.
A person wiser than I said, “it hurts…and it hurts…and it hurts”. I lost my best bud Gif , a one-of-a-kind rescue pug, suddenly, on April 8th. He went in to the vets overnight, diagnosed with pancreatitis. Saw him at 6 PM when they closed, went back at 7 AM to check on him, and was told he was gone. A terrible day for me, and a shock I am not yet over. Larry- So sorry to hear about your Jesse…and the loss of all the others who have commented. I know something of your pain.
Larry, so sorry to read about your loss. I understand how you feel, I lost my baby girl a few years back. She was a dobby (rescue dog) I had in the house . A pet holds a special place in our hearts especially a dog. You will cry and laugh when you think of your times with Jesse. Take care my friend and hold on to those memories. 73, Martin W3MLK
Very sorry for you on your loss. We had to put Westy, our springer spaniel, to sleep in 2005 right after losing my Dad and my wifes Dad. Westy was a rescue dog that had developed cancer after living with us 10 great years. She died a week after my father in law was buried. We tried to live without a dog while we grieved but within 2 months we found another rescue dog on line at a dog rescue site in Lexington, KY. A few days later little “Blue” arrived at Bradley Airport via Delta. He is a field bred springer spaniel and has been with us on many qrp expeditions and has been my constant shack companion in four years of retirement. Westy lives on in a little container of ashes in the next room (and our hearts). To quote WA1RHT, a close fried, “pups are really special people”.
Wait a respectful perod of time and then check out rescue shelters … I’m sure Jessie would approve.
