Nice to see 10m open.

I dipped my toes this weekend in California QSO party. I entered as low power, CW, non assisted. Conditions were good and I was shocked how good 10m was. It was my highest scoring band for my part time effort.

I have always heard and seen that 10m would get the farthest and have seen how the highest frequency that is working will get you the farthest. I have been pretty disappointed this year in where my 1/4w WSPR and 4 watt CW can reach. 10m has been pretty short distance this year when last year 4w CW would get me to Australia and 30w to japan. I was pleased to see 10m show WSPR contacts from US to australia and I heard 1/4w WSPR signals from Australia last week after months of poor signals. With the longer days ending and cooler weather coming it is a pleasant surprise to see the 10m band open like a flower

Good morning David and thanks for stopping by the blog and posting a comment. Yes I too have noticed with my CW contesting that bands were up and down due to solar events. But as you say now that the fall is here things are starting to pick up again. Good luck on FT8.
