I just got my General license in March and purchased this as my first HF radio. It has been very easy to learn how to use and due to an integrated tuner, it saved me from having to buy a separate antenna tuner. With nothing more than an inverted V wire dipole antenna I have been able to reach Brazil in SSB mode and Australia by FT8.

The IC 7300 worked perfectly from the start. I have used it on SSB, FT-8 and several other digital modes. The previous owner had already used it with several digital software packages so setup was a piece of cake. So far, it is perfect.

For a relatively low price you get a very solid HF-rig with 100w and ease of use regarding digi-modes. Having just one USB cable for audio in-out/PTT/CAT is great. It does not get warm easily even with 100w in FT8. In fact it is my balun overheating that is the problem now. Such is upgrading from 15w to 100w. The negative things i have experienced: Going from a HF-rig that is controlled by physical knobs (KX3) to a touch screen/knobs demands a period of learning and getting used to. I highly recommend reading the manual in detail. The auto-tuner is more narrow than my old radio. I actually had to remove some radials for my random wire antenna before it tuned 40m band. You can not get RX I/Q data from the radio to computer (like KX3). Luckily you can buy a modification (that is easy to install AND remove) to get that function (PTRX-7300) All in all it is 5 stars because what it does it does it reliably and to spec.Read full review

The IC-7300 came out as brand new, plugged it in with the supplied power cord and was ready to roll. Unit was backed up and updated, been in service for several weeks and many contacts using an MFJ mobile mount on my vehicle, the station is in a temporary location, kinda like working a field day station. No issues no complaints, well maybe just one, I do not have enough time to get to know all the features yet...

Zero issues. Was able to track package from Japan to USA. Asked for it to be held at FedEx depot nearby, so I could sign for it easily. Came in unopened iCom packaging, wrapped with bubble wrap exterior to the box. Since the box was unopened, all iCom accessories were included. USA buyers take note - there is only one (1) microprocessor for all of the IC-7300 models and markets. Put another way, no matter the market, its the same radio. All of its feaures and capabilities are controlled by a diode array next to the chip. You'll need to remove D420 and D423 to get the "USA version" - which is default English language, and USA bandplan capable. There are a few gaps in 80m band otherwise. Those are an easy-to-do task. After the chip removal, you'll need to set up the bands in the radios menu, save to a memory card. Download the IC-7300 service manual which shows the diode locations (easy to find). No diodes need be added (a relief!). Thanks for a great radio! Read full review
