No radio… and it feels fine

Now I am one week without the radio and computer in the shack. I could do some CW or Phone, but I didn't feel like to do something with it. I was afraid for a cold turkey, the first 3 days were pretty hard, but now I am feeling well without it. Yesterday I was listening on 40 meter, but I heard a quarrel between Dutch and Italian amateurs about the use of a particular frequency. I was immediately fed up with the radio and turned it off. Now I enjoy reading, watching films and do some walking & biking instead of radio. Can you imagine how it feels? Have a nice weekend.

    He he Paul,

For this reason you are describing, I haven’t got any microphone connected to my HF radio at home. Instead I have permanently connected to it 2 HF DIGITAL MODES modems and a soundcard interface. I enjoy more working DIGITAL modes and SSTV.

    Hi Paul,

If you have to force it, then it’s no fun. Come back to radio when the mood strikes you and it feels like fun. A hobby should never feel like work!

(Take some pics of your hikes to share – you live in a pretty area!)

I like the “Boom Box” on your shoulder ! Should be some interesting shortwave coming through the tree branches. So you haven’t given up totally on radio after all

My last QSO was September 1st. I don’t miss it because I have lots of fun setting up my APRS digipeater and weather station. I’m off to build another antenna now. Ciao.
