I may be a bit biased as this was the first real ham radio I ever owned. The Yaesu FT-530 is just a work of art. Revolutionary in its time and still widely sought after today, this breakthrough transceiver features side by side dual VFOs with crossband repeat capability. Very rugged & dependable this radio also broke new ground in the 90s with its paging & scanning capabilities. Adventurous hams have used these hilltopping with a dual-band, circular polarity, directional antenna to work satellites. This little beauty was certainly ahead of its time, so many features yet very user-friendly. There's a reason they're still selling for two to three hundred dollars (for a nice one) as they are WORTH it. The MH-29 display speaker-mic is an amazing innovation & worth adding to the 530. I still utilize a few in my hobby today, thanks to awesome Ebayers that post mint, new condition FT-530s and their accessories once in awhile. If you feel the same way about radios as I do, grab a clean example of this radio and make a new friend. Hilltopping with this radio and a few decent antennas is absolute heaven!Read full review

This may be the best dual band portable radio ever built for 2 meter / 440 simplex and repeater operation even though it is a analog unit. I have two. I may purchase another here... Easy to follow set instructions in manual with great audio in and out.
