The radio is a very good one and has a lot of good settings for both transmit and receive. It's takes a little time to learn how to use all the good features but is not hard even without a manual.

The Kenwood TS 450s is truly a dream to operate was really impressed on its performance, first contact with it was on the Island of Guam running about 65 watts into a long wire antenna...would I buy another, in a heartbeat!!!! Excellent receive on CW that really filter's out the garbage. To bad this 1990's model not in production anymore. For whatever price you see a good operating one for sale....buy it!!! It's well worth the money and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The 450S is a great radio all around. The receivers are sensitive and with selectable filters quiets up nicely. They are very easy to work on and maintain. And the best feature is NO MENUS. Got good old fashion buttons and knobs. Can also get them with build in Auto tuners.

I bought this radio used and it works just like a new one. The sound is very clear and not much static except on nights when everyone is complaining. The noise blanker appears to work good. I would sure buy it again if I had to. And if this one ever breaks down I will try to find another like it.

An oldie but goodie. Great receive and good sounding transmitter. They are inexpensive compared to all those modern radios. Unless you are a big contester this radio should be enough for the casual operator.
