These bulbs are worth twice what they cost here. Without them in the circuit you have no receive. If you jump across them with a wire it will burn out the coil forms for the band that you are switched to if a strong signal should happen to be tuned !!!! I have repaired these coil forms and it is tough. So if you send it out , it is costly. So buy the bulbs. P.S. they don't light up. The filament is used as an overload fuse.
