Radios have a solid strong feel to them and the 10 watt power has awesome distance. I've gotten about 5 miles in mostly wooded areas and 14 miles over elevated open areas. (straight line per Google maps). Have bought several to replace my standard Midland GMRS style radios for hunting. Frequencies can be re programed to match the traditional FRS/GMRS radios however, the factory frequencies makes it nice not having others talking on your channel!!
