Eric Swartz from Elecraft has already said that the K2 continues in production.
let’s all hope they make a replacement kit, K1S and K2S. I’m waiting for them to come.
You only know how good the rigs are untill you have one yourself. I was surprised by the difference with other brands.
And then the service they offer to their clients !! Super super super !!

While the K2 is still being offered, if parts availability was truly the cause of discontinuing the K1, I don’t see the K2 being offered for a long time. It uses many of the same components of the K1, and it has many more components. I also don’t see Elecraft offering a K1S or K2S. With the discontinuance of the KX1 and K1 and the focus on the KX2, KX3, K3, and amplifiers, you can see the direction Elecraft is going. I’m not saying it’s bad, but the Elecraft of today is different than what Elecraft was in the early 2000s when the K1 and K2 were new and we were in the QRP “golden age”, and kits were king.
Morning Goody and thank for taking the time to stop by and comment, it true that Elecraft may be at some time dropping the K2 kit but I don’t think from any fault of their own. With regards to the bottom line for Elecraft having to hunt around for components for the kit brings the price up. It’s great that up to this point they are still able to support this kit but is seems this type of kit as opposed to surface mount kits (which I just can’t at this point do as the stuff is so so small) seem to be the next generation of kits. I have assembled 2 Elecraft k2’s and it was a great way to pass the evenings and once you power it on and it works it is a great feeling for sure. With some of the kits now a days they come with the surface mount components done and the builder gets to add some through mount devices. I see this as the way to go as the kit provider does not want to have a high failure rate of the kits do to poor surface mount soldering from the builder or frustration and no kits are sold or poor reviews are given.
